Jalieza Collars Offer Stories in Every Stitch
Every Jalieza collar is handmade by the women of the Mendoza family, expert artisans from Santo Tomas Jalieza, Mexico.
Eustacia, the matron of the family, has taught all the women from a young age to use the backstrap loom—just as she learned the skills from her mother.
Generations of artisan weaving mastery go into every collar, but it’s much more than that.
Every Collar Tells the Story of the Woman Who Made It
As with all works of art, each Jalieza collar is crafted in the artist’s image. Each one contains the style, memories, and stories that are unique to the artist that created it.
Every collar from Ta Ib is one-of-a-kind, like a beautiful, wearable work of art. No two people will ever receive the same collar, making them as unique as your dog is.
Celebrate the Zapotec culture and directly support the women’s cooperative in Mexico and local animal organizations by purchasing a collar today.
More Details:
Each design of the Jalieza collars is rooted in Zapotec culture, using traditional symbols and colors. In this design, the Oaxacan women have weaved the Zapotec diamond, a symbol that represents the trajectory of the sun in the sky.
